This project has a special significance for our client, a site which he walked past every day as a child dreaming of building a house. We now have the pleasure of helping to realise this dream!
The design seeks to sit comfortably in its context, taking inspiration from the surrounding properties, whilst also providing a striking contemporary, aesthetic, and generous family feel fitting with our clients brief. The careful specification and detailing provides a high quality feel with a softer more tactile material palette.
A modern family home, which meets the highest levels of sustainability. The project has been designed to meet the rigorous Passivhaus Standard. This means the optimum in comfort and extremely low energy demand. We have been working to ensure a good balance between the scientific calculation requirements of the standard, with the aesthetic and spatial needs of the project.
We are delighted that the project has now progressed to construction.

Passivhaus
The project is designed to meet the Passivhaus Standard which represents the optimum level of environmental design, ensuring exceptional thermal comfort and extremely low energy use.
Careful consideration and analysis is crucial at every step of the design process to ensure certification, from basic design decisions to detailed analysis of thermal bridges and specification of the construction and services, everything is considered and calculated.
This home is designed to be certified based on the peak heat load. This means that we are looking at the coldest day of the year, and looking at the energy required to keep the building at a steady 20 degrees. Within the UK climate, this is now seen as the most appropriate methodology to ensure peak comfort all year around!
Please refer to our Passivhaus page to find out more about the Passivhaus Methodology.
