This project reconfigures a 1930's home, in dire need of renovation and structural repairs, to create a contemporary family home. The design looks to reconfigure the existing, restricted living spaces. A wrap around extension allows a modern functional layout, whilst giving the home a unique character. The new diagonal hallway on the ground floor frees up the floor plan, whilst allowing generous kitchen, living and dining spaces. This distinct new axis also draws the eye through to the back garden on entering the house. By repositioning the staircase to the side of the house, this has created a beautiful transition between the floors with views to the garden, whilst also freeing up space in the ground floor layout.
The design allows 4 bedrooms on the first floor including a unique master bedroom. The side extension has a subservient, minimal aesthetic from the street to respect the existing street pattern. The contemporary, warm, appearance of the rear elevation celebrates views down the garden and reflects the modern lifestyle of our clients. It’s great to see this project complete and our clients enjoying life in their new home.
