Addressing the needs of a growing family home, this project reconfigures the existing plan and provides a contemporary extension to celebrate views across Derbyshire.
The design harmonises and expands the ground floor accommodation with a rear extension that opens up the existing living space. Reconfiguring the entrance has freed up the plan to improve the flow through the house. An additional bedroom is added on the first floor with a roof terrace to make the most of the setting. Carefully articulated views have been considered from the early design stages, with a picture window in the new master bedroom that focuses on views down the valley. The project will improve comfort in the whole home by increasing levels of insulation in both the existing house and the new additions whilst bringing natural daylight into the spaces.
