A refurbishment and extension of a traditional Cornish cottage
As an existing family home, the cottage was limited on space and the external finishes were in need of repair.
The design benefits from good levels of daylight and a more efficient fabric. A new kitchen/dining area forms a small and sensitive extension to the existing house .
The sensitive approach to retrofitting the existing house aims to preserve the existing fabric by improving the health of the facade. The existing cement render will be removed, to prevent further damage to the cob and stone walls, and replaced with a softer lime-based render to help preserve the buildings fabric.
Traditional slate tiles will be restored to the roof. New timber windows will improve the daylighting and thermal efficiency throughout the family home.
We look forward to seeing this project complete soon!
