| The Wool Shop
Our feasibility study at Foundry street involves the provision of business facilities for two separate commercial clients. Located on a beautiful site, the project has the opportunity and complexity of existing buildings with a significant industrial heritage.
Initial designs look to provide offices, a yard and workshops for a local conservation focused construction firm, providing practical facilities incorporating the existing brick industrial building. Meanwhile a new commercial building at the front of the site would provide a shop and workshops for a yarn dying business, bringing craft back to the site and provide a local centre for craft enthusiasts.
The feasibility study looked at the provision of modern facilities with fantastic spatial quality, whilst respecting the conservation importance of the site. We look forward to seeing this project progress further in the near future.

Heritage Context
The site lies within a village with significant industrial heritage in the steel industry in South Yorkshire. The site, which was in use as a steel foundry, unusually is not specifically listed. However the designation of a local conservation area and the mention of the site within numerous English Heritage reports highlights the significance of the site which requires respect. At early stages of the project, we held discussions with the planning department and English Heritage to establish the parameters for development. We then held discussions with Ecologists, Structural Engineers and building conservation specialists to establish the feasibility of working to conserve and utilize the existing buildings.
